We want to teach you to row! If you are new to rowing or just want to improve your technique, please request a lesson by emailing the head coach Heather Swan at HSwan@mendotarowingclub.com and if a coach is available, they will reach out to you directly.  Club members may schedule lessons with approved coaches independently.  A list of approved coaches can be found here.

Waiver Forms

All individuals receiving private lessons must be current active or guest members of MRC and have agreed to the Mendota Rowing Club Waiver prior to going on the water.   Guest membership is valid for 30 days, after which it can be upgraded to a monthly membership.

Payment

Lesson coaching fees must be paid directly to the coach and will include a $20 fee paid to MRC for launch use or $10 fee for erg use/boathouse utilities.  Lesson sessions are 2 hours or less. Sessions beyond 2 hours will be subject to an additional $20.00 or $10.00 charge.

Swim Test

Rowers planning to schedule private lessons must have a current swim test on file.  

Scheduling

Scheduling is subject to equipment and coach availability.  MRC practices, learn to row classes, and learn to row camps have priority when using MRC equipment.    The Head Coach shall be notified of any private lessons.  All boat usage must be logged in the boat and launch logs and the independent sculler boat checkout sheet.

Private Lesson Fees

Coaching fees are at the discretion of the instructor and will be agreed upon prior to the beginning of the lesson.  The coaching rate is to be paid directly to the coach.
