What: Mendota Rowing Club Learn to Row and Summer Novice Membership. Unlike earlier LTR classes, this includes rowing with us for the rest of the summer! After completing class, you are invited to Novice practices on weekday evenings until August 31.
When: July 11th and 12th Saturday and Sunday 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. (times subject to change)
Rain dates: July 18th and 19th
Lead Instructor: TBA
Note about times: We will be firming up the times before classes begin. Class will definitely not start before 8 a.m., and will definitely not go after 5 p.m. You're welcome to bring your coffee in the morning--we won't get in boats right away!
We will have breaks for snacks and a one-hour break for lunch each day. You can easily walk to a restaurant near the Capitol to get carry-out, or bring your lunch. We have space for your things inside the boathouse.
Swim test: Rowing is a water sport and it is important that you feel confident in the water. Prior to the first class, all students must take and successfully complete the Swim Test. Please see our Swim Test page for more details. If you have any doubt about passing the test, please plan to take it more than a week before class starts (so you can get a refund if necessary).
Bad weather: Each class consists of four blocks (Sat. morning/afternoon, Sun. morning/afternoon). If the weather gets too bad, hopefully we'll only have to cancel one or two blocks. If we have to cancel any blocks on the scheduled weekend, we'll make the time up the following weekend. (we'll try not to have class on July 4th!)
Once you're registered, we'll set up a group text with students and instructors so we can communicate quickly.
Covid-19 protocols: Masks are required inside the boathouse. Please bring one with you. We disinfect everything we can, but you might still like to bring your own small bottle of hand sanitizer.
